Job Overview We are hosting a virtual event on May 15th & 29th from 11am-1pm and 3:30pm-5:30pm, and we invite you to join us to learn more about this exciting opportunity. As a Financial Counselor, you will play a vital role in supporting the reduction of Accounts Receivables for our Patient Financial Services department. You will have the opportunity to work with patients directly, assisting them with their bills or other financial aspects of their care, and providing exceptional customer service to ensure a positive experience. Key Responsibilities Take actions to support the maximization of collection of balances due or account resolution from all sources, meeting Quality and Productivity expectations Facilitate account resolution by accurately identifying, following up on, or correcting billing errors, lower than expected reimbursement, or denials for correction or resubmission to patients and/or insurance carriers Timely identify, research, and resolve any issues that may cause delays in payment or account resolution, and identify and recommend opportunities to improve collections and follow-up activities Work collaboratively across teams, with peers, and revenue cycle departments to ensure seamless communication and effective problem-solving Determine liability on patient accounts and work with patients or their representatives to provide financial assistance or secure payment Facilitate processing of Medicaid and other financial assistance applications, and initiate eligibility determination for blithequark's charity care fund Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A High School diploma 1-2 years of experience in healthcare insurance billing or account follow-up Strong knowledge of Patient Accounting systems Strong customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals The ability to work in a team environment that requires quick turnaround and quality output Bilingual skills in Spanish and English are preferred, but not required Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Prior experience with Medicaid and Charity Care Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple priorities and deadlines Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively What We Offer At blithequark, we are committed to providing a comprehensive and competitive benefits package to support the physical, emotional, social, and financial health of our employees.
