Public Health Specialist II
About the position Responsibilities • Work with hospitals, clinics, and physicians' offices to obtain medical records for potential cases of birth defects and stillbirth. • Maintain a caseload tracking system. • Screen identified cases for eligibility in special studies. • Abstract required data into the data collection tool. • Perform other appropriate related duties. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Epidemiology, Environmental Studies, Public Health, Health Administration or a related field and one year of experience in a public health, human services or health related program/organization; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and three years of such experience; OR five years of related experience. • A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience. Nice-to-haves • Experience abstracting medical record data for a research study. • Master's degree in public health or a closely related field. • Knowledge of birth defects and medical record terminology. • Experience in use of electronic medical record (EMR) platforms. • Familiarity with data entry using a variety of tools. • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Access, and Adobe Pro.
