Remote Full-time
Opportunity Lighthouse Therapy is looking for a Physical Therapist to work virtual as a 1099 with Arizona school districts for the 25/26 School Year. What You Will Need • Master's Degree in Physical Therapy • Active Arizona license as a Physical Therapist • Reliable internet connection • Quiet place to conduct services • Ability to build rapport with students • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Positive and patient demeanor Preferred • Previous experience providing physical therapy services in an educational setting • 2+ years experience working in schools Commitment • Willingness to work 2 days per month • Willingness to attend IEP meetings Caseload Clarification Q - How does Lighthouse define caseload? A - At Lighthouse Therapy, we define a "Student" as a child receiving service for 30 minutes once a week. So, a caseload of 20 students equals 10 hours of direct therapy time. Q—What if I see students who require more time? What if I need to see a student for 30 minutes twice a week instead of once a week? A—Under Lighthouse Therapy's caseload definition, "a student is a child receiving service for 30 minutes once a week." If you were to have a child receiving service for 30 minutes twice a week, then that child would count as two students. Q—Why does Lighthouse Therapy discuss a time commitment in "Students" and not "Hours"? A—At Lighthouse Therapy, everything we do is about our mission. We are laser-focused on helping students, and discussing time commitment in "Students" is one small way to keep the focus where it should be. Responsibilities • Student Assessment & Evaluation • Conduct virtual evaluations to assess students' motor skills, strength, coordination, and mobility. • Review students' IEPs (Individualized Education Programs), medical history, and teacher/parent concerns. • Determine the need for school-based PT services and develop individualized treatment plans. • Therapy & Intervention • Provide direct services to students, guiding them through exercises and activities that promote mobility, balance, and coordination. • Adapt treatment activities to be engaging and accessible in a school environment. • Educate teachers, paraprofessionals, and caregivers on strategies to support students' mobility needs during school activities. • Implement assistive technology recommendations for students with physical disabilities. • Collaboration with School Teams • Work closely with special education teams, teachers, occupational therapists, and speech therapists to support students' educational goals. • Attend IEP meetings to discuss student progress and recommend adjustments to therapy plans. • Provide training and resources to school staff on positioning, mobility aids, and accessibility accommodations. • Documentation & Compliance • Maintain accurate progress notes, session logs, and student evaluations in compliance with school district and state regulations. • Contribute to IEP goal-setting and progress reporting. • Ensure all services align with IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) and state telehealth guidelines. • Family & Caregiver Involvement • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to provide updates on student progress. • Offer guidance on home exercises and mobility strategies to reinforce therapy goals outside of school. • Address parent concerns and provide recommendations for additional support when needed. • Professional Development & Ethical Standards • Maintain state licensure and certifications required for school-based physical therapy services. • Uphold confidentiality and ethical standards when working with students and families. Benefits • Lighthouse Therapy offers mentoring for all new therapists at whatever level they need it. • Access to Lighthouse Therapy's electronic medical record (EMR) system makes keeping track of your appointments, billing, and students' goals a breeze. • Never feel alone. Our therapist community is active and engaged on Google Chat (Google's version of Slack). You can ask questions, get answers, make friends, and even post in the "Water Cooler" channel what fun things you've been up to. • Opportunity to cross-license and cross-licensure reimbursement to other states. • Access to Lighthouse Therapy's Assessment Library. This resource alone can save you thousands of dollars on testing materials. About Us Established in 2018, Lighthouse Therapy is a company run by therapists, for therapists, for the betterment of students. Before starting Lighthouse Therapy, our CEO and Speech-Language Pathologist, Janet Courtney, provided online therapy services for over six years and worked as a therapist for nearly twenty-five years. She saw first-hand the problems a company run by investors and businessmen can produce. Decisions were regularly made to improve the bottom line, negatively affecting therapists, schools, and, ultimately, the students. She knew a company's profits shouldn't come before a student's well-being. So, she founded Lighthouse Therapy (LHT). Janet understands the nuances of conducting sessions online, so every decision made centers around helping our therapists and students become more successful. Lighthouse Therapy is an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, pregnancy, age, national origin, disability status, genetic information, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
