Overview Goldbelt Professional Services specializes in providing expert resources for Public Health missions including scientific, technical, and administrative support from junior staff to high-level subject matter experts. Research and data driven, Goldbelt Professional Services' experts create solutions customized to the client's needs. Summary: Goldbelt Professional Services, LLC., is looking for a Librarian II to support for CDC Library Services. This person will perform a full range of professional level library service duties. Responsibilities Essential Job Functions • Develop and maintain the CDC library catalog. • Create appropriate authority records, subject headings and metadata using current national, international, and industry library standards. • Update library staff of new rules for new type of materials. • Identify and resolve integrated library system and database maintenance problems. • Perform original and copy cataloging, using current and emerging national and international cataloging/archival/metadata standards and practice. • Assign MARC and non-MARC metadata effectively to expand access and discovery to public health and occupational safety and health materials for the ILS and institutional repository. • Formulate classification numbers and resolve problems as needed. • Research and apply new techniques and technologies for cataloging e-resources. • Collection maintenance to provide a healthy library collection and collection development to update library holdings. • Coordinate with library staff to ensure bibliographic access, collection arrangement, and cataloging priorities meet reference and collection management needs. • Provide research and reference assistance at the reference desk. • Compile and edit collection development guidelines. • Complete online processing of cataloged items; transfer the record into Voyager system, enter appropriate holdings information, barcode and create/edit item records, shelve item in appropriate physical space (if applicable). • Process items to be withdrawn from library, replacement copies and volumes or copies to be added to holdings. • Create documentation and materials on cataloging workflow and related processes. • Maintain records related to usage, time, expenses, and/or cataloging for a library. • Process donated and purchased materials to be added to the library collection. • Identify and resolve integrated library system (ILS) maintenance problems. • Deselection (weeding) of outdated and obsolete library holdings to eliminate disinformation and provide accurate and updated information to agency members. • First line approval of library requested materials to review items that may be of benefit to the library collection. • Identify gaps in library collection and present recommendations to CDC library staff in support of future acquisitions. • Develop collections, identifying new books, donations, and resources within scope for possible addition to the collection. Qualifications Necessary Skills and Knowledge • Understanding of and the ability to define and analyze bibliographic relationships and apply bibliographic maintenance, data cleanup and/or correction procedures in the integrated library system (ILS) • Knowledge of standard library practices, precedents and techniques shall be applied to specific cases, problems or situations and in relating new work situations to precedent ones. • Knowledge of appropriate information technology to acquire, organize and disseminate information on a broad range of public health and occupational safety and health topics. • Knowledge of and adherence to the best professional principles and practices of online searching including search construction and strategy, search commands and syntax, index structure, use of controlled vocabularies, natural language searching, Boolean logic, truncation, adjacency, and relevance ranking related to public health and occupational safety and health information resources. • Ability to apply effective communication and analytic techniques for use in conducting trainings and outreach activities. • Ability to develop and sustain initiatives that support and foster research, scientific endeavors, intellectual development and knowledge creation by developing tools and support systems. Minimum Qualifications • An ALA accredited master's degree in Library Science • Minimum two (2) or more years of experience as a Librarian I. • Possesses skill set at full Librarian level and first-line supervisory Librarian level Pay and Benefits At Goldbelt, we value and reward our team's dedication and hard work.
