About the Role
As a T1 Fresh Start Math Tutor, you will play a vital role in providing targeted support to students who require additional assistance to meet their academic goals. Your primary focus will be on delivering research-based math interventions to students, helping them build confidence and skills in mathematics.
Key Responsibilities
- Review curriculum content and grade levels for students served in tutoring sessions to ensure targeted support.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to identify skill gaps and develop strategies to address them.
- Assist in determining student needs and regularly review progress to adjust instruction and support.
- Design and implement individualized and small-group instruction plans to improve students' math performance.
- Motivate students to learn mathematics and develop a growth mindset.
- Monitor computer use while working with small groups and maintain a fast-paced schedule.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (e.g., education, mathematics).
- 6-12 Teaching Certificate with a focus on Mathematics.
- In-depth knowledge of the Common Core State Standards and math content.
- Willingness to learn and implement research-based strategies to support student learning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Previous experience in teaching or tutoring mathematics.
