Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Transcribe dictated recordings with varying audio lengths and quality, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
• Properly format legal documents, including insurance forms, letters, memos, and notes, in accordance with E-Typist Guidelines and client preferences.
• Transcribe legal terms, medical terms, locations, and names with proper spelling and capitalization.
• Conduct basic research as needed to ensure the accuracy and completeness of your work.
• Adhere to E-Typist Guidelines and client preferences, proofreading your work before submission to ensure high-quality output.

Essential Qualifications

• Type at a minimum speed of 65 words per minute (WPM).
• Have dictation transcription and word processing experience in an office environment within the last five-year period.
• Possess a good working knowledge of creating formal correspondence, memos, reports, and other legal documents.
• Have a strong understanding of legal and workers' compensation terminology.
• Be familiar with creating interrogatories, deposition summaries, legal court documents, and have knowledge of the proper format of legal citations.
• Have a strong working knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
• Be proficient in Microsoft Word 2007 or newer, including advanced formatting features.
• Have excellent listening skills and be comfortable working independently.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience working with attorney or other single-voice dictations.
• Familiarity with transcription software and equipment, such as transcription pedals and headphones.
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.

Success Criteria

• Work a minimum of 30 hours per week, with the flexibility to choose your own hours.
• Maintain a spelling accuracy rating of 95% or higher after the first 30 days.
• Maintain a grammar and formatting accuracy rating of 95% or higher after the first 30 days.
