Formulation Chemist – Information Technology (Intern/Temp)
Position Summary We are looking for an innovative and curious Formulation Chemist – Information Technology to help bridge cosmetic formulation science and digital R&D innovation. This is not a traditional lab role. Instead, you’ll use your scientific understanding to help design, test, and improve how formulation data, processes, and collaboration happen on the OpenR&D platform. You’ll play a key role in connecting the science of formulation with the technology that powers it, helping create smarter workflows, more accurate ingredient databases, and a better user experience for formulators around the world. You’ll also have opportunities to join supplier meetings, participate in online R&D discussions, and engage with industry professionals, making this a rare opportunity to combine science, technology, and networking. Key Responsibilities • Collaborate with the founder to test, review, and improve formulation-related features and workflows within the OpenR&D platform • Verify and organize scientific and ingredient data for accuracy and usability • Contribute to digital experiments and mock formulations to validate platform logic and functionality • Assist with research and evaluation of new raw materials and innovations from suppliers • Participate in online supplier or community events to support relationship-building and learn about industry trends • Provide feedback on data structure, formulation interface, and user experience from a chemist’s perspective • Help develop and refine platform documentation and scientific content Qualifications • No prior professional experience required • Educational background or strong interest in cosmetic science, chemistry, formulation, or related field (in progress or completed) • Curious, analytical, and detail-oriented mindset • Comfortable using digital platforms and learning new systems • Strong communication and collaboration skills • Passion for the cosmetic industry, R&D innovation, and technology integration • Self-motivated and eager to learn in a startup environment Additional Details • This is a paid, remote, temporary position, subject to extension based on company needs and performance • Flexible work hours • Mentorship and direct exposure to the cosmetic, entrepreneurial, and tech sectors • Opportunity to network with suppliers, chemists, and R&D professionals across the industry
