About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Remote Call Center Customer Service Representative to join our team as a Medicaid Member Support Specialist for the State of Iowa. As the initial point of contact for inquiries from potential and existing Iowa Medicaid Program recipients and affiliates, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional customer service and support. Key Responsibilities Act as the primary point of contact for inquiries from potential and existing Iowa Medicaid Program recipients and affiliates, providing one-to-one telephone contact with applicants, beneficiaries, and enrollees in customer service roles. Accurately document enrollment requests and status changes, ensuring that all information is up-to-date and readily available. Enter application and enrollment information into a web-based computer system for customers wishing to apply for the program over the telephone, maintaining technical and program policy proficiency in the Iowa Family Care rules/guidelines and other related program policies. Provide clear, complete, accurate, and objective information based on a full understanding of program requirements, addressing customer inquiries and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner. Maintain effective working relationships with applicants, beneficiaries, and co-workers, demonstrating empathy, commitment, and a customer-centric approach in all interactions. Essential Qualifications High School diploma or GED, with a basic understanding of a call center environment in a customer service role and quality monitoring processes. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with applicants, beneficiaries, and co-workers, demonstrating strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to problem-solve through analysis and ongoing feedback, achieving results through knowledge, empathy, and commitment. Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds, demonstrating cultural competence and sensitivity in all interactions. Must reside within 1 hour driving distance from Des Moines, IA, with reliable internet access and a dedicated workspace. Background check required, with a willingness to adhere to a break and lunch schedule and maintain excellent typing and grammar skills. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in a call center or customer service environment, with a strong understanding of customer service principles and practices. Excellent phone etiquette skills, with the ability to navigate a computer and understand/utilize policy. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in response to changing circumstances. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make informed decisions.
