About the Role We are seeking an experienced and skilled Data Entry Operator to join our Clinical Laboratory team on a part-time basis, working evening shifts. As a Data Entry Operator at blithequark, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accurate and efficient processing of patient specimens for diagnostic and treatment purposes. Your attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment will be essential in this role. Key Responsibilities Verify the identification of patient specimens and requests for tests, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail. Prepare and accession samples for send-out testing to various locations, maintaining precise records and following established protocols. Report critical values to medical staff, ensuring timely and effective communication. Sort specimens with appropriate labeling and identification for distribution to designated laboratories for testing, maintaining a high level of organization and efficiency. Perform pertinent data entry and retrieval functions using automated and/or manual systems, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail. Centrifuge and decant specimens, following established procedures and protocols. Maintain laboratory records in accordance with established procedures and protocols, including the generation, separation, sorting, and distribution of reports. Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and distribute supplies as needed, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow. Follow laboratory safety policies, including the use of personal protective equipment, and maintain a clean and safe environment. Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to adapt to changing priorities and needs. Essential Qualifications To be considered for this role, you must have: A High School diploma or equivalent. General office skills, including typing, filing, and phone etiquette. General computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software applications. General organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities. Knowledge of OSHA regulations and standard precautions. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: An Associate's Degree in Business or a related field. 1-2 years of related experience in data entry, coding, billing, registration, or insurance. Knowledge of medical terminology and the ability to utilize hospital and laboratory computer systems for registration and/or accessioning. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
