Entry-Level Network Engineer
Job Summary Latona School Associates(LSA) at the John Stanford International School in Seattle's Wallingford neighborhood is hiring a seeking an enthusiastic Entry-Level Network Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. Responsibilities • Assist in the design, deployment, and support of network infrastructure including LAN, WAN, VPNs, and data center environments. • Support the configuration and management of Cisco routers, switches, ASA firewalls, Meraki devices, and Juniper equipment. • Monitor network performance using tools like SolarWinds, PRTG, and Splunk; perform vulnerability assessments and implement security measures such as Cisco ISE, PKI, LDAP, and network security protocols. • Help configure and troubleshoot routing protocols including OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, MPLS, and IPsec VPNs to ensure high availability and reliable connectivity. • Support network installation projects involving Ethernet cabling, network hardware setup, and virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere and Citrix. • Assist in managing operating systems including Windows Server, Linux distributions (Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS), Solaris, BSD variants, and openSUSE for system administration tasks. • Contribute to scripting automation using Bash (Unix shell), PowerShell, Python, Ansible, or Shell Scripting to streamline network operations. • Participate in SDLC processes related to network architecture changes; contribute to documentation using GPOs and other management tools. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on cloud security initiatives involving AWS and Azure; support high availability configurations for critical systems. • Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies such as SDN (Software Defined Networking), DevOps practices for network automation, and modern cybersecurity standards. Experience • Basic understanding of computer networking concepts including TCP/IP stack, DNS/DHCP services, VLANs, load balancing solutions, and network protocols such as HTTPs, SSH, SFTP. • Familiarity with enterprise networking hardware such as Cisco routers/switches/ASA firewalls or Juniper devices is preferred. • Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS or Azure along with virtualization tools like VMware vSphere or Citrix is advantageous. • Knowledge of scripting languages (Python or Bash) for automation tasks is a plus. • Prior internship or hands-on experience in network support or system administration roles is desirable but not mandatory. • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.
