You will play a crucial role in maintaining the high standards of accuracy and readability across a variety of our publications, ensuring our content is precise, consistent, and ready for publication. Key Responsibilities • Review manuscripts, articles, and other content for grammatical errors, punctuation, spelling, and adherence to house style guides. • Verify the consistency of formatting, capitalization, and numerical data. • Cross-reference text with source materials to ensure accuracy of facts and figures. • Collaborate with editors and authors to clarify discrepancies and implement corrections. • Manage proofreading tasks within specified deadlines. • Learn and apply specific style guides (e.g., APA, AMA, Chicago) relevant to scientific and medical publishing. • Provide constructive feedback and suggest improvements for clarity and readability. Required Skills • Exceptional command of the English language, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation. • High level of attention to detail and accuracy. • Ability to concentrate for extended periods. • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and familiarity with tracked changes. • Strong organizational and time management skills. • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote environment. • Basic understanding of different style guides (e.g., Chicago Manual of Style). Preferred Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Linguistics, or a related field. • Previous experience, even unpaid or voluntary, in proofreading or copyediting. • Familiarity with academic or scientific writing. • Experience with online proofreading tools or content management systems. • A keen interest in scientific or medical subject matter.
