Teens Make Health Happen Mentor Internship
Serve as a near-peer mentor leading health and wellness clubs to empower teens in Palm Bay, FL, with HealthCorps. Your Role Here’s what you will be doing: • Implement the Teens Make Health Happen (TMHH) wellness club in one high school in Palm Bay, FL. • Serve as a near-peer mentor to middle and high school students throughout the semester. • Lead health and wellness programming including lunchtime demonstrations, step challenges, and community projects. • Collaborate with teen wellness leaders, site partners, Regional Program Manager, and other mentors to ensure effective program delivery. • Conduct needs assessments, research health inequities, and track and report program impact. • Commit 6+ hours weekly to the mentorship, including 1.5 hours per week on-site for instructional purposes. • Host monthly Café O Yea demonstrations and support regional events. • Contribute to HealthCorps’ social media platforms by sharing program highlights and student impact stories. • Promote health and wellness daily and ensure access to local health resources for students and staff. • Represent HealthCorps and its values within the community and at events. About You The company is looking for: • An undergraduate or graduate student majoring or interested in public health, public policy, biology, nutrition, marketing, psychology, education, social work, or related fields. • Good academic standing with your university. • A commitment of 6-8+ hours per week for the entire school year. • A self-starter with a strong desire to grow personally and professionally as a community leader and speaker on health topics. • Ability to travel up to 30 miles within the Palm Bay region. • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds as needed. Compensation & Benefits • College credit coordination with your university (may include course credit or practicum hours). • Stipend based on the number of sites served to cover costs such as transportation, professional clothing, parking, and meals.
