Who We Are Szabo & Associates is a strategic communications, crisis, and public affairs consultancy working at the intersection of media, law, and policy. Our clients include government agencies, nonprofits, technology firms, labor organizations, law firms, developers, ballot initiatives, and public figures. We take pride in helping clients shape narratives that make a tangible impact in communities across the country. Who You Are We’re seeking a paid fellow with strong writing, research, and problem-solving skills to support our growing portfolio of clients. This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in high-stakes communications and public affairs work, with the potential to grow into a full-time position. As a member of our small, fast-paced team, you will work directly with the firm’s principal and senior associate to deliver results for clients across sectors. Your work will include: • Drafting press materials, messaging documents, and website copy • Researching and writing memos or backgrounders • Supporting media outreach and pitching • Assisting in public event planning and logistics • Participating in client meetings and strategy sessions • Helping design communications plans and measure outcomes The ideal candidate is creative, resourceful, detail-oriented, and eager to learn. You thrive under deadlines, take initiative with limited direction, and approach challenges with curiosity and professionalism. This position is fully remote, but candidates must reside in either the Bay Area or Los Angeles for periodic in-person collaboration and to manage occasional public events in those cities.
