Project Manager - Energy Delivery (Remote)
About the position Responsibilities • Serve as primary contact for GDS clients and provide consultancy and advisory services relative to transmission planning efforts, standards and requirements. • Coordinate development of planning power system models and operating network models. • Evaluate vendor-supplied and client-supplied information for model development. • Coordinate and perform transmission system studies using industry-accepted software tools to assess system performance and compliance with NERC standards. • Review results of transmission system studies, propose mitigations, and draft reports for clients. • Coordinate NERC compliance assessments and review regional standards, making recommendations for policy changes. • Develop strategies to identify and evaluate potential transmission expansion opportunities. • Coordinate representation throughout the planning process for interconnection of transmission, load, and generation facilities. • Serve as a technical liaison with the RTO/ISO and support asset registration and qualification. • Provide representation at RTO/ISO stakeholder workgroups and make recommendations for planning and reliability efforts. • Compile completed tasks from team members into final presentations or reports for clients. • Support development of expert witness testimony in regulatory proceedings. • Assign tasks and organize team members to ensure productivity. • Manage one or more employees and mentor other team members. • Coordinate with other GDS departments for transmission planning, design, or operation expertise. Requirements • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Engineering from an ABET certified school. • Minimum 8 years of relevant transmission planning and/or generation/transmission modeling work experience. • Interpersonal skills and supervisory experience preferred. • Knowledge of company culture, procedures, and policies. • Experience with power system modeling software tools such as PSS/E, PSLF, PowerWorld, PSS/MUST, TARA. • Familiarity with production cost software such as PROMOD, Aurora, and GE MAPS. • Experience managing transmission planning projects. • Familiarity with design, planning, or operation of distribution and/or transmission facilities. • Familiarity with RTO or non-RTO interconnection and planning requirements. • Ability to read and interpret electrical distribution and/or transmission one-lines and associated equipment specifications. • Ability to perform and interpret results of steady-state power-flow and short-circuit studies.
