About the position Responsibilities • Providing on demand reference and extended research services to students • Conducting bibliographic instruction for students in a classroom environment • Collaborating with faculty to increase awareness of library resources to students • Developing Library Guides and Open Educational Resources (OER) materials • Promoting library resources to faculty, students, and campus groups • Collaborating with other librarians to establish library policies and procedures • Collaborating on the development, purchasing, and maintenance of library collections • Planning and implementing the college's information competency goals • Designing and teaching library research skills and library technology courses • Utilizing Canvas and other online platforms to teach and communicate with students • Providing services in various instructional settings and times, including evenings and weekends • Communicating effectively with students and staff and maintaining effective working relationships • Fulfilling all duties and responsibilities as required by Administrative Regulation 7122 • Performing other duties as assigned. Requirements • Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students • A Master's in library science, library and information science, or a valid California Community College Credential, or equivalent education and/or experience. Nice-to-haves • Experience and skill incorporating elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion into all areas of responsibility • Recent experience working with racially minoritized students • Willingness to examine and remediate instructional practices to engage and support racially minoritized students • Related work and professional experience • Experience working with students of various cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds • Demonstrated ability to work with computers and technologies for high-quality instruction • Experience with Springshare LibChat, LibAnswers, and LibGuides • Knowledge of the community college and its mission and goals.
