Day to Day
As our Senior Director of Data Science, you'll play a critical role in shaping the future of job matching. Your mission will be to define and execute Indeed's AI strategy for matching job seekers to relevant jobs. You'll guide our organization in pursuing this strategy and drive innovation to make a meaningful impact on people's lives.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and oversee the data science roadmap: Align with broader company goals and drive the development of AI-powered job matching solutions.
- Lead multiple teams of data scientists, analysts, and engineers: Nurture their growth and ensure the delivery of key projects that drive business growth.
- Communicate the value of AI and ML: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement data-driven solutions that enhance user experiences and drive business outcomes.
- Innovate and stay ahead of the curve: Explore new areas like candidate-job matching algorithms, resume parsing, job description and resume information extraction, and user behavior prediction.
- Ensure data privacy, security, and ethics: Prioritize data integrity and adhere to the highest standards of ethics and compliance.
- Engage with senior leadership: Advocate for an AI-first culture and drive key data initiatives and strategies across the organization.
- Foster external partnerships: Stay updated with industry trends and ensure our data practices remain at the forefront of technological advancements.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree: In Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 15+ years of experience: In data science, analytics, or a related field with 7+ years in a leadership role overseeing data science teams.
- Deep understanding of machine learning: Statistical modeling, predictive analytics, and Natural Language Processing (NLP) and/or Deep Learning.
- Proven ability to translate complex data findings: Into actionable business strategies and experience in collaborating with product teams to drive business growth.
- Experience communicating and influencing: Product, technical, and business direction across all levels of a large organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with large-scale search, ranking, relevance, and matching: E.g., e-commerce, with a deep understanding of the complexities and tradeoffs of leveraging/deploying ML/AI at scale.
- Leadership experience: 7+ years leading data science teams and 10+ years of experience in data science.
Skills and Competencies
- Technical expertise: Proficiency in programming languages like Python, R, or SQL.
- Leadership and management: Ability to lead and inspire teams of data scientists, analysts, and engineers.
- Communication and collaboration: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence product, technical, and business direction.
- Innovation and creativity: A passion for innovation and creativity, with a willingness to explore new ideas and approaches.

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits
