About the Role
As a Special Education Teacher Assistant with Scoot Education, you'll have the flexibility to work on a remote basis, providing support to teachers and students in various educational settings. Key Responsibilities
- Follow and teach lesson plans provided by the regular teacher, ensuring continuity and quality education for students.
- Instruct based on subject and grade-specific curriculum, adapting to the needs of special education students.
- Monitor and assess student achievements and outcomes, providing valuable feedback to teachers and staff.
- Exercise classroom and behavior management skills, creating a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Share your specialized knowledge to coach staff and support special education students, promoting a collaborative approach to education.
Essential Qualifications
- Active Teaching license with a special education generalist (5-21) and/or special education specialist (5-21) endorsement(s).
- Substitute Authorization (must have or be in the process of obtaining if license is expired).
- Three References, including one from a previous direct supervisor.
- Completion of a Background Check for Scoot Education (reimbursed on your first paycheck).
- Completion of a Background Check for the Colorado Department of Education (required for Substitute Authorization).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with special education students, particularly those with diverse needs and abilities.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed teaching practices and classroom management strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with teachers, staff, and students.
- Flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
