Job Summary
As a Migrant Education Classroom Tutor, you will provide academic support to migrant students in small groups, one-on-one settings, and/or integrate into classrooms, working closely with classroom teachers to ensure students receive the assistance they need to succeed. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Tutoring migrant students in reading, math, and language arts to enhance their academic skills and confidence
- Providing individualized and group support to migrant students, tailoring your approach to meet their unique needs and learning styles
- Collaborating with classroom teachers to develop and implement educational plans that support the academic success of migrant students
- Maintaining accurate student records and implementing educational plans based on these records
- Building strong relationships with students, families, and school staff to foster a supportive learning environment
Key Responsibilities
As a Migrant Education Classroom Tutor, your key responsibilities will include:
- Delivering high-quality academic support to migrant students, focusing on reading, math, and language arts
- Developing and implementing individualized educational plans that cater to the unique needs of migrant students
- Collaborating with classroom teachers to ensure seamless integration of migrant students into the classroom environment
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date student records, using this information to inform instruction and drive student success
- Communicating effectively with students, families, and school staff to promote student success and address any concerns or challenges
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must meet at least one of the following qualifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalent, and completion of the ParaProfessional Assessment, or the ability to pass the ParaProfessional Assessment within four (4) months of hire
- An associate's degree or higher
- Completion of two years of higher education (at least 48 semester hours) or the equivalent
In addition to these qualifications, you should possess:
- High school-level knowledge of math, reading, and English
- Experience in maintaining accurate student records and implementing educational plans based on these records
- Experience working in a collaborative instructional environment
- The ability to work well with teachers, principals, and District staff
- A proven ability to relate well with students and families from diverse backgrounds
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Experience working with migrant students or in a similar educational setting
- Bilingual or multilingual skills, particularly in languages spoken by migrant student populations
- Familiarity with educational software and technology, particularly those used in Alaska school districts

Compensation and Benefits
