Role Description
• Create a list of course learning outcomes
• Write a course syllabus
• Record video “lectures”
• Design engaging visual representations to help students learn content
• Create engaging assignments, group activities, and presentations
• Write interactive discussion board topics that enable students to delve more deeply into the content while building community
• Design assessments to measure learning outcomes
• Create an instructor guide to assist course facilitators
• Provide expert knowledge in biostatistics, with emphasis on biomedical and clinical research applications
• Develop learning modules that guide students through their educational experience while upholding and adhering to the CPS commitment to student success
• Analyze best practices in online biostatistics education
• Demonstrate skill in creating learning activities and meaningful assessments of student learning
• Exhibit writing and editorial skill
• Possess excellent collaborative and communication skills
• Work independently once a task is thoroughly explained and effectively during time-on-task
• Commit to weekly check-in meetings with the Instructional Design team and/or the Program
• Participate in drafting a schedule for deliverables
• Meet agreed-upon deadlines per the master course development schedule
• Provide expert and graduate level knowledge in Biostatistics
• Guide students through their educational experience while upholding and adhering to the CPS commitment to student success
• Provide timely response to student inquiries, within 24 hours
• Facilitate class instruction by engaging in the online course portal a minimum of 5 times per week
• Host a minimum of one hour of virtual office hours per week
• Exhibit excellent collaborative and communication skills
• Analyze best practices in online education
Qualifications
• Experience teaching online in an educational setting
• Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development and assessment
• Passion for teaching
• Master’s degree required (PhD preferred) in Biostatistics, Statistics, Epidemiology, Biomedical Data Science, or a closely related field
• A minimum of three years teaching experience in the area of biostatistics
• Desire to motivate and encourage students in academic and professional settings
• Expertise teaching online and the desire to learn and apply new technological approaches to education
• Experience using the Brightspace/D2L Learning Management system preferred
