Key Responsibilities: Leading the Classroom with Confidence
- Provide high-quality instruction and support to students in the absence of their regular teacher
- Develop and implement lesson plans, ensuring continuity and consistency in the educational process
- Manage classroom behavior, creating a safe and inclusive environment that promotes student engagement and learning
- Communicate effectively with school staff, parents, and students, providing updates on student progress and any concerns
- Participate in 1:1 check-ins with your Scoot consultant to discuss school feedback, develop your skills, and address any needs or concerns
- Engage in ongoing professional development, including free online training on trauma-informed teaching, classroom management, and more
Essential Qualifications: The Scoot Education Advantage
To be successful as a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you will need:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
- Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor
- NJ Substitute Credential
- Background check and TB risk assessment (we will cover the cost of this)
- Full COVID-19 vaccination
- A passion for education and putting students first
- An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be
Preferred Qualifications: Standing Out from the Crowd
While not required, the following qualifications can enhance your application:
- Previous experience as a Substitute Teacher or in a related educational role
- Specialized training or certifications in areas such as Special Education, English as a Second Language, or STEM education
- Experience working with diverse student populations, including those with varying abilities and needs
