Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Part-Time Coordinator II - Nursing Lab to play a vital role in creating and managing a multidimensional educational link between nursing courses and the nursing laboratory/practical experience. The successful candidate will enable students to connect the rationale and theory for the skills they will perform in the clinical setting. Key Responsibilities
The Part-Time Coordinator II - Nursing Lab will be responsible for:
- Collaborating with faculty to create nursing laboratory schedules and maintaining communication regarding lab assignments and utilization.
- Assisting with the utilization and troubleshooting of simulators, and directing and monitoring laboratory safety protocols.
- Maintaining an accurate inventory and quality assurance of laboratory equipment and learning resources.
- Orienting students and faculty to the nursing lab and providing mentoring to students in Associate Degree Nursing (ADN), Transition Nursing Program, and Vocational Nurse (VN) Nursing Programs.
- Participating in all System-Wide Nursing Lab Coordinator Committee meetings and coordinating with the bookstore to order laboratory packs for students.
- Collaborating on grant proposals to obtain additional funding to enhance nursing programs and assisting with department budget preparation.
- Analyzing and improving procedures/practices to ensure the learning environment enhances students' intellectual and skills development.
- Providing supervision and direction for part-time student workers.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- An Associate's Degree and at least 3 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A current Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Texas or current privilege to practice in the State of Texas as an LVN or RN.
- Basic Life Support Certification for Health Care Workers.
- Experience in nursing practice and ability to mentor students in lab settings.
- Ability to work independently without close supervision and broad knowledge of the nursing sciences.
