Job Overview
The Online Admissions Counselor serves as a key member of the Pampell Online Division, assisting prospective students from their initial application to acceptance into our online programs. This role requires a strong commitment to providing excellent customer service, accurate information, and support to prospective, new, and matriculated students. The ideal candidate will have a passion for higher education, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate all admissions, academic, and administrative policies to prospective students, advising them on necessary next steps and providing guidance on the application process.
- Assist students in setting short-term goals and follow up with them to ensure they are on track to meet their objectives.
- Develop a working knowledge of all university resources and communicate necessary information to prospective students, ensuring they have a comprehensive understanding of our programs and services.
- Utilize university resources to track student progress, identify outcomes, and provide proactive support to students as needed.
- Provide exceptional customer service and support to prospective, new, and matriculated students, responding to emails and phone calls in a timely and professional manner.
- Develop and implement proactive outreach strategies to build strong working relationships with our student population, ensuring they feel supported and engaged throughout their academic journey.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure a seamless and efficient admissions process, contributing to the overall success of our online programs.
- Participate in special projects and temporary duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to adapt to changing priorities and needs.
Essential Qualifications
- A college degree from an accredited college or university is required, with a preference for candidates who have completed a degree in a related field such as education, counseling, or communications.
- At least 3 years of experience in a higher education-related field is preferred, although candidates with relevant experience in customer service, sales, or marketing may also be considered.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong organizational, project, and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in using PC and Mac systems, as well as familiarity with specific business software and hardware, such as customer relationship management (CRM) systems and online learning platforms.
- A commitment to providing accurate and timely information to prospective students, with a strong focus on customer service and support.

- Experience working in an online or higher education environment, with a strong understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities presented by online learning.
- Familiarity with enrollment management software and systems, such as Slate or Jenzabar, and experience with data analysis and reporting.
