Job Summary

The Medical Billing and Data Entry Specialist will be responsible for processing patient billing information, analyzing data, and making sound judgments to support our patients throughout the billing process. The ideal candidate will have experience with billing software, medical insurance policies, and electronic medical records, as well as a strong understanding of revenue cycle management principles.

Key Responsibilities

• Generate revenue by making payment arrangements, collecting accounts, and monitoring and pursuing delinquent accounts
• Collect delinquent accounts by establishing payment arrangements with patients, monitoring payments, and following up with patients when payment lapses occur
• Utilize collection agencies and small claims courts to collect accounts by evaluating and selecting collection agencies, determining the appropriateness of pursuing legal remedies, and testifying in court cases when necessary
• Maintain Medicare bad-debt cost report and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
• Secure outstanding balance payments for care of employees and ensure timely resolution of billing disputes
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless communication and efficient revenue cycle management
• Stay up-to-date with changes in billing software, medical insurance policies, and regulatory requirements, and apply this knowledge to improve billing processes and procedures

Essential Qualifications

• Proven work experience as a Medical Biller or similar role, with a strong understanding of billing software and electronic medical records
• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to multitask and manage time effectively
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex billing information to patients, clients, and agents
• Outstanding organizational abilities, with attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• A Bachelor's degree in business, health care administration, accounting, or a related field is preferred, although equivalent experience and certifications may be considered

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification as a Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
• Experience with electronic health records (EHRs) and practice management systems (PMS)
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and compliance requirements
