Job Summary
We're seeking an experienced Full Stack Pharmacy Intern to join our team in Glendale. This hybrid role offers a unique blend of remote and in-office work, allowing you to balance your time and work style. As a Pharmacy Intern, you'll play a critical role in driving success in our pharmacy operations, working closely with our team to deliver exceptional patient care and drive business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute local healthcare strategies to coordinate all Walgreens medical services organizations, including retail pharmacies, clinics, and specialty units, to drive business growth and patient outcomes.
- Work with and develop a culture where all Walgreens organizations collaborate to achieve overall business objectives, drive patient health results, and execute on corporate initiatives within the area.
- Provide training and guidance to enable Area Administrators to drive pharmacy and healthcare initiatives, driving employee engagement and improving overall performance and developing future leaders.
- Ensure an exceptional, personalized, and outstanding customer experience across the area.
- Act as the highest level of pharmacy expertise, driving continuous Rx execution across the area.
- Ensure compliance and adherence, collaborating with Chief Pharmacy and Retail Operations to drive execution.
- Support and lead change in Pharmacy, interpreting the overall pharmacy/healthcare strategy into meaningful learning and practice for field and store leaders.
- Keep areas of strength and understanding of the pharmacy landscape to inform on potential opportunities.
- Responsible for Pharmacy talent pipeline, driving recruitment and development for Pharmacy Administrators, Staff Pharmacists, Health Results Pharmacists, and Pharmacy Schedulers, engaging Region Supervisors simultaneously.
- May occasionally include high-performing SMs/RXMs in the process as a developmental opportunity.
- Lead overall pharmacy engagement and clinical improvement for the area; mentor and develop field and store leaders to deliver the ideal patient experience.
- Responsible for pharmacy staffing, finance management, and cost control.
Work Activities
- Guarantees execution of Mark Pharmacy Health and Health programs and corporate key initiatives through focused store visits and training of Area Administrators.
- Through collaboration with the Chief Pharmacy and Retail Operations, holds Area Directors accountable for execution and execution on healthcare strategies.
- Oversees execution of region through metrics and reports, utilizing feedback from Area Supervisor to target specific stores.
- Fields and resolves clinical communications escalated from stores; settles fitting patient complaints that are clinical in nature.
- Oversees stage one and stage two of the Means approach for escalated clinical quality issues.
- Acts as the clinical expert Nearby, responsible for Retail.
- Engages with Pharmacy Directors directly on clinical issues.
Market Advancement
- Keeps areas of strength and understanding of Rx landscape to inform on valuable opportunities (e.g., new patients/buyouts).
- Develops/keeps up with associations with existing clinic frameworks as coordinated by the RHD.
- Attends events that enhance local health and wellness connections.
Business Execution Management
- Works with Chief Retail and Pharmacy Operations to review regional healthcare financials and KPIs to create action plans, lead business determining and analysis for business planning meetings.
- Collaborates with Chief Retail and Pharmacy Operations to develop pharmacy improvement plans and holds Area Administrators accountable for execution of plan.
- Gives input and experiences to Local Healthcare Chief on Pharmacy Health and Health drives and successes.
Business Planning
- Gives contribution to Chief Pharmacy and Retail Procedure on essential needs to inform district plans.
- Gives input to DPR on healthcare financials and KPIs to inform action plans.
Individuals and Performance Management
- Possesses, develops, and oversees associations with local schools, universities, and professional associations.
- Possesses the pharmacy manager ability process and pipeline, setting the recruitment system, identifying and training high-potential pharmacy directors, and overseeing Execution Improvement Plans for Pharmacists.
- Gives contribution to Chief Pharmacy and Retail Procedure on Area Director performance reviews.
- Liable for overall pharmacy engagement.
- Centers around training and developing Area Chiefs to empower execution of pharmacy liabilities.
- Guarantees consistency with every corporate approach, material business regulations, and is reliably fair in the treatment of all colleagues.
- Holds monthly touchpoints with Area Supervisors on STARS reports.
- Guarantees consistency on clinical quality-related events, including training, preparation, and through goal.
- Holds regular touchpoints and development discussions with Health Results Pharmacists and Pharmacy Schedulers.
- Responsible for pharmacy staffing, finance management, and cost control.
Training and Self-Awareness
- Takes part in training and supports training efforts where necessary.
- Looks for self-improvement by observing own performance, setting high personal standards, expanding knowledge on retail, pharmacy, and management fields, seeking and sharing best practices.
Communications
- Communicates healthcare-related information from phone calls, local meetings, and corporate initiatives.
- Reviews and disseminates pharmacy-related messages from Corporate and Local VPs to Area Supervisors, and Head supervisors or Pharmacy Directors.
- Discusses regularly with administrators and colleagues through one-on-one conversations, group meetings, and written communication to keep them informed, request input, answer questions, and ensure communication.
