Job Summary:
We're seeking an experienced Educational Assistant - Instructional to provide educational supports to students under the direction of licensed staff. As an Educational Assistant - Instructional, you will play a critical role in planning and implementing assigned instructional programs, completing routine clerical tasks, and providing support to teachers and students.
Essential Job Functions:
- Works under the guidance and direction of licensed teachers to provide instructional support and tutoring to students in large groups, small groups, and one-on-one situations
- Assists teachers in assessment, supporting curriculum, student interactions, enforcing safe behaviors, and enhancing social growth of students in the school setting
- Performs record keeping and basic clerical functions, such as scheduling, copying, and maintaining student files and classroom materials
- Confer with teachers to provide feedback on student performance in areas of instructional responsibilities
- Helps support students in developing positive interpersonal relationships with peers and adults
- Promotes safety of students through application of district's student management and safety guidelines
- Monitors individual students, classroom, and/or playground activities to provide a safe and positive learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide instructional support to students, including tutoring and small group instruction
- Assist teachers in planning and implementing instructional programs
- Maintain accurate records and perform basic clerical tasks
- Communicate effectively with teachers, students, and parents
- Promote a safe and positive learning environment
Requirements:
Education, Training, Experience, Licensure, and Certification:
- Completed associate's or higher degree, or completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (72 college quarter hours or more)
- Prior job-related experience, paid or volunteer, with school-age children
- Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance and First Aid/CPR card
Knowledge of and Skill in:
- Principles of child development and instructional practices
- Operating standard office equipment, computer programs, and applications (e.g., email, system applications, word processing, database, spreadsheet, desktop publishing)
- Basic clerical functions and basic arithmetic calculations
- Effective communication in English, both verbally and in writing
- Reading, interpreting, and applying rules, regulations, and policies
- Understanding and carrying out verbal and written instructions
- Rapidly learning methods and materials used in a variety of instructional situations
- Functioning as a self-starter, working independently or in a team
- Planning, prioritizing, and completing assignments with minimal supervision
- Handling multiple projects and tasks to meet deadlines
- Interacting with persons of different age groups and cultural backgrounds
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with culturally, linguistically, and racially diverse communities
- Bilingual or multilingual skills
