Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, quality, and integrity of data pipelines that deliver a diverse set of data types to other engineering teams at Apple
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive the advancement of our products and services
- Design, develop, and maintain complex, multi-component large-scale data systems
- Provide mentorship and guidance to experienced engineers and help them grow in their careers
- Work closely with other engineering teams to identify and prioritize project requirements
- Develop and maintain scalable, efficient, and reliable data pipelines and architectures
- Ensure the quality and integrity of our data systems, and identify areas for improvement
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Master-level experience with data engineering tools and technologies, processes, objectives, and philosophies
- Master-level experience with at least two of the following languages and related development tools: Python, Ruby, Java, Scala, Swift, Objective C
- Experience with at least one of the following platforms: HDFS, Yarn, Spark, Impala, Kafka, HBase, MapReduce, Kubernetes, Item Store, Flink
- A strong sense of pride in the development cycle and the will to drive the team towards continuous code, application, and process improvements
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms and technologies
- Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance principles
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git
- Experience with data visualization tools and technologies, such as Tableau or Power BI
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills, with the ability to break down complex problems into manageable components
