Key Responsibilities
The Skills Trainer (ICM) will be responsible for providing skills training and case management services to adults with severe and persistent mental illness, with a focus on promoting a strengths-based, client-centered approach to treatment. Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing individual and group skills training sessions, as well as case management services, to clients in accordance with their mental health treatment plans.
- Integrating best practices into daily operations, including Harm Reduction, Trauma-Informed Care, and Motivational Interviewing.
- Effectively engaging clients to participate in skills training, which may involve transporting clients out in the community.
- Participating in regular supervision and attending team meetings to gain knowledge and communicate program and client needs.
- Respecting and honoring client rights and responsibilities, and demonstrating professional boundaries and ethics.
- Documenting and maintaining electronic health records (EHRs) and ancillary records in a manner that assures compliance with all agency policies, program procedures, and local, state, and federal regulations.
- Providing input on relevant documentation and procedural requirements, as well as assisting in crisis situations as appropriate.
- Demonstrating responsibility for the safety of clients, staff, and property, and adhering to mandatory abuse reporting laws and HIPAA requirements.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following qualifications and requirements:
- Must be credentialed as a Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA) and have a Bachelor's Degree in a behavioral science field from an accredited college or university, or three years of mental health work experience or a combination of work experience and education.
- Must have some work experience working with adults with severe and persistent mental illness, preferably in a community-based setting.
- Must be able to operate a motor vehicle in order to transport clients out in the community, and have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Must be able to assist clients in participating in a variety of skill-building outings, as well as accessing community resources.
- Must be able to demonstrate responsibility for the safety of clients, staff, and property, and adhere to mandatory abuse reporting laws and HIPAA requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Experience working in a Trauma-Informed Care environment.
- Knowledge of Harm Reduction and Motivational Interviewing principles and practices.
- Ability to work independently in the community, providing skills training to clients.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, clinicians, and other support staff.
