Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Contract Specialist to join our forward-thinking, private equity-backed business on a part-time basis. As a seasoned professional in contract management or commercial law, you will lead a team of trainee solicitors and work closely with our established legal team to drive innovation and process improvement in contract management. Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Mentorship: Supervise, manage, and mentor trainee solicitors involved in contract and engagement letter review, fostering their growth and development. Knowledge Centre: Act as the primary knowledge centre within the business on engagement letters and contracts, serving as the gatekeeper of precedent documents. Contract Negotiation & Drafting: Draft and negotiate engagement letters and contracts with third parties, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Document Development: Develop standard, pre-agreed documents with key third-party providers to streamline contract management. Outsourcing Management: Supervise outsourcing providers to ensure timely and accurate document review. Document Tracking & Storage: Accurately track and monitor engagement letters and contracts, ensuring completed documents are stored efficiently and comprehensively. Ideal Candidate: We are looking for a contract specialist or commercial lawyer with: Proven experience in a supervisory or management role, either in-house with a contract management team or in private practice. Innovative mindset with a strong focus on process improvement, including exploring the use of AI tools to enhance contract management.
