Review documentation in same day surgery and observation medical records and assign ICD-10-CM diagnoses and CPT-4/HCPCS procedural codes to greatest specificity
Abstract demographic and coding information accurately into EMR and assign correct APC
Resolve coding edits and reminders and complete assigned work by goal date
Query providers as needed and assist with unassigned/backlogged accounts
Serve as mentor to new coders and assist with outpatient and emergency coding when assigned
Comply with Wellstar policies, standards of work, and code of conduct
Requirements:
Minimum 3 years acute care same day surgery and observation coding experience
CCS (Cert Coding Specialist) or CPC, RHIA, RHIT preferred
Maintain a or higher accuracy in abstracting, code and DRG assignment while meeting productivity requirements
Ability to work in a remote environment
Computer/data entry experience
Ability to communicate with various members of the healthcare team
Ability to use Microsoft Excel and Word
