Manager-HIM Coding Internal Only Relocation Allowance (up to) Relocation Allowance (up to): $10,000 Facility Samaritan Health Services Req # Req #: 76707 Location Corvallis, OR Schedule • Shift 1.0 (80 hrs/pp) • Day Department SHS Health Information Mgmt Remote Status Remote Status: Remote JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE Responsible for the operational management, leadership, planning, administration, fiscal matters and personnel of the HIM coding department for both inpatient and outpatient coding. Facilitates all aspects of coding and abstracting, submission of information for billing and decision support, data collection and coding compliance. DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION The Health Information Management (HIM) department manages health information systems and medical records to ensure they meet medical, legal and ethical standards. HIM staff work with Samaritan Health Services patients, staff and providers as well as numerous external entities to maintain the accuracy and completeness of the medical record; provide coded data for evaluation of services and reimbursement; and ensure authorized access to patient medical information in accordance with privacy and confidentiality requirements. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related healthcare field or equivalent experience required. Certification as RHIA/RHIT and CCS required. Experience or training in ICD-9-CM and CPT coding required. Training in ICD-10 CM/PCS required. Three (3) years of progressive supervisory experience in healthcare required. Five (5) years of inpatient and outpatient hospital coding experience with multiple medical and surgical subspecialties required. Experience or training in the following required: Advanced medical terminology, anatomy/physiology, disease processes and pharmacology. Computerized coding/abstracting systems and encoders. Applicable coding rules and compliance guidelines. Billing functions. Components of a charge description master. Functions and processes of an HIM department. Electronic health record.
