The State of Tennessee is seeking a Business Intelligence Specialist - Intermediate to support the design, development, and maintenance of BI solutions. This role involves analyzing source data, building reports and dashboards, and troubleshooting BI-related issues to facilitate data-driven decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain BI reports, queries, and dashboards based on customer requirements
- Translate user requirements into queries, visualizations, and reusable dashboard templates (Power BI, Tableau, or similar)
- Assist in analyzing source systems and building logical data models
- Implement and tune Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes and validate data accuracy, troubleshoot data-load errors and performance bottlenecks
- Perform data validation and testing to ensure business needs are met
- Troubleshoot reporting and data anomalies, escalating issues when necessary
- Document business processes, use cases, and technical solutions for long-term maintainability. Maintain data dictionaries, lineage diagrams, and ¿how-to¿ guides to support knowledge transfer and audit readiness
- Support data integrity, system performance monitoring, and adherence to configuration standards
- Collaborate with stakeholders to clarify reporting needs and enhance BI functionality
Skills
- Bachelor's degree and one year of experience in business intelligence, data warehousing, programming, or business systems analysis
- An associate degree in a related field may substitute for the bachelor's
- Relevant experience may substitute for education up to two years
