About the Role We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our Discretionary Assistance Fund (DAF) team. As a Welsh Speaking Customer Service Advisor, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of our DAF contract, working closely with applicants, and providing exceptional customer service via phone, email, and online channels. Your primary focus will be on processing emergency payments and individual assistance grant applications, ensuring that all interactions are handled with sensitivity, professionalism, and a deep understanding of the legislation and criteria involved. Key Responsibilities: Process emergency payments and individual assistance grant applications in a fast-paced office environment, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail. Manage and process data, maintaining accurate records and complying with our Processing Services Customer Charter in both English and Welsh. Liaise with applicants to gather information, undertake eligibility checks, and provide clear guidance on the application process. Work collaboratively as part of a team to achieve targets set by the Service Manager, contributing to the overall success of the DAF contract. Respond to incoming and outgoing correspondence, dealing with enquiries from clients, citizens, and internal colleagues in a positive and professional manner. Act as a key deliverer of the DAF contract, ensuring that all interactions are handled with empathy, understanding, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service. Essential Qualifications and Skills: To be successful in this role, you will require: Fluent Welsh language skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in both English and Welsh. Previous experience in a customer-facing role, preferably in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with applicants and colleagues alike. Strong administrative skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in data recording and management. Ability to work under pressure, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple applications simultaneously. Strong understanding of the legislation and criteria involved in awarding emergency payments and individual assistance grants. Preferred Qualifications and Skills: While not essential, the following qualifications and skills would be desirable: Previous experience working in a similar role, preferably in a public sector or not-for-profit organization. Knowledge of the Discretionary Assistance Fund (DAF) and its purpose. Experience of working with vulnerable individuals or groups, with a deep understanding of the challenges they face. Ability to speak additional languages, with the potential to support applicants from diverse backgrounds.
