As a Customer Success Engineer I – Backstage, you will be part of a high-performing team that is passionate about delivering exceptional customer experiences and driving business outcomes. **Job Summary** We are seeking a versatile and experienced engineer to join our Backstage team, where you will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with our current customers, ensuring their success and satisfaction with our commercial Backstage products and services. Your primary focus will be on providing strategic guidance to our customers, automating problem-solving, and driving business growth through data-driven insights. **Key Responsibilities** As a Customer Success Engineer I – Backstage, your key responsibilities will include: * Nurturing strong relationships with our small-business segment by providing tools, information, and training needed to achieve their desired outcomes * Capturing customer objectives, mapping out a pathway to achieving them, and measuring success using data-driven feedback loops * Onboarding new customers through the implementation process, ensuring a smooth transition * Identifying points of friction in the onboarding and adoption experience * Representing the voice of the customer with internal teams, including sales, product, marketing, engineering, and customer support to ensure customer satisfaction and resolve any problems or concerns * Developing and maintaining features on our open source platform, Backstage, collaborating with internal teams and the broader open source community to enhance developer experience and platform capabilities **Essential Qualifications** To succeed in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications: * An understanding of how developers work and collaborate within an enterprise environment * Extensive experience with modern web development and infrastructure * Proficiency in React, TypeScript, GraphQL, and Node * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing customer issues * Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical users * Experience working in tech consulting or customer management is a bonus * Experience working with/contributing to backstage.io is a bonus **Preferred Qualifications** While not essential, the following qualifications would be highly desirable: * Experience working with cloud-based infrastructure and services * Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems * Strong understanding of DevOps principles and practices * Experience with customer success platforms and tools **Work Environment and Culture** As a Customer Success Engineer I – Backstage, you will be part of a dynamic and collaborative team that is passionate about delivering exceptional customer experiences.
