Tyonek Tribal Conservation District is hiring seasonal Conservation Technicians for fieldwork in Skwentna, AK. Responsibilities include invasive species management, salmon monitoring, and habitat assessments. Candidates should have outdoor experience and teamwork skills. The position is full-time from May 5 to October 10, with a pay rate of $21-26/hour. Work involves travel to remote communities and physical labor in varying conditions. Tyonek Tribal Conservation District (TTCD) is seeking seasonal Conservation Technician(s) to join our team! These positions will be working closely with the Senior Habitat Programs Director and Conservation Biologist to implement annual biological field tasks including invasive species management and monitoring, salmon population monitoring, water temperature monitoring, fish sampling, and habitat assessments. The ideal candidate has experience working outdoors, collecting biological data in Alaska, has Alaska plant and fish identification skills, and a team-oriented attitude while also thriving in the flexible, dynamic, and fast-paced environment of a growing and reflective nonprofit. This position will be based in either Anchorage or Tyonek and will involve travel to remote communities including Tyonek and Beluga for both day and overnight multi-day trips during the summer months. The Conservation Technician will gain valuable experience through exposure to the daily operation of a conservation nonprofit organization. Status: Seasonal, Full-Time (May 5-Oct 10) Pay rate: $21-26/HR DOE Job Functions & Responsibilities • Field work with TTCD staff and partners in remote areas, including spending up to a week at atime in each of the following locations: Skwentna, Alexander Creek, Tyonek, and Beluga. • Conservation project planning and implementation, including northern pike survey and suppression, aquatic invasive plant surveys, salmon population monitoring, stream temperature and flow monitoring, and other projects as needed. • Data collection, entry, organization, and analysis for conservation projects. • Assisting, assessing, and monitoring aquatic habitat restoration projects. • Collaborating with partners to implement conservation projects including invasive species management activities and other projects as assigned. • Working cooperatively with TTCD staff to achieve goals of current District projects and programs, as well as assist in the development of future district projects and programs. • Assisting with Tyonek Garden tasks as needed. • Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Minimum Qualifications • Willingness to work in remote areas, including flying by small aircraft to project sites. • Willingness to work outdoors, including physical work in varying weather conditions. • Comfortable working in/on lakes and streams by wading and in boats and packrafts. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Strong organizational and teamwork skills.
